WHAT'S MISSING ?

AFTER THE READING OF THE STORY :

DIRECTIONS :

In re-reading the story a second time -

  1. Begin reading the book

  1. Leave out a word or phrase on each page

    Example:
And Little Red Riding Hood said « Oh, what big sharp ----------- you have, Grandma »

  1. Wait for the child to suggest appropriate words or phrases. If she/he offers words that do not change the story's meaning, continue reading

  2. For very young children, leave out nouns and verbs to make the activity less complicated.

  3. Be sure to leave enough original words and phrases in the story so the story line has continuity.
