Book Sale

Annual Book Sale (2001-2007)

IThe Book Sale was an annual event held in honour of Adult Literacy Month by The Centre for Literacy of Quebec and Giant Book Sales  It helped to raise awareness of literacy and delivered books to Quebec schools and communities in need

Teacher Tanya Poole, from the Mecatina School in La Tabatière, QC, a remote community on the Lower North Shore of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, accessible only by boat or plane, received some of these books.

Tanya wrote: “…Living in such an isolated area, access to resources such as books is very limited. In fact, the only source within our community is our school library. ... [Y]our donations help us enrich our existing collection and offer a variety of material to our students….We thrive on the fact that we are succeeding in building a community of children who love to read and get very excited when presented with new books!”

Jaida, one of Tanya’s students, offered her own thanks. “Thank you for such interesting books. I might have to read more than one…”

Other Benefits

  • Delivered over $50,000 in book donations (worth $100,000 + in retail value!) to other organizations in the community.
