Using
New Technologies to Link Museums and Literacy Work
The goal of this project was to share knowledge about
attracting adults
into literacy-learning through museums, heritage organizations and
community
arts initiatives. An essential part of the project aimed to exploit
recently-created infrastructure and video-conferencing capacity in Quebec’s
English-language community to engage new partners. We worked
collaboratively with the network of 22 Community Learning
Centres (CLCs) across the province, and benefited from the technical
expertise
and support of LEARN.
We are pleased to include
resources such as Museums and
Online Virtual Tours and Videoconferencing Content Providers.
Videoconferencing
Content Providers
These three
sites will give educators and adult learners a good idea of what is
available.
Many
content
providers are willing to modify their content to meet your needs. Most of them cost about $125 for a
90 minute videoconference,
but they are very well organised and send the schools all the material
necessary
to prepare their students.
You
have to
make sure when booking one that there is
- material ahead
of time
- an interactive
conference where the students do something
- posted
activities for
follow-up
In
same
cases you are offered the chance to register but this is not essential.
