Adult literacy and television: An annotated bibliography

The Centre has researched and produced a comprehensive annotated bibliography on adult literacy and television. Arranged chronologically from the early 1960's to the present, it reflects almost all the major work undertaken in the developed world (with some references to developing countries) to use television for literacy campaigns and for instruction.

Nominations for board of The Centre

The Centre for Literacy of Quebec is seeking nominations for three (3) board seats for a two-year term beginning in September 2000. We are looking for members from the adult education, early childhood/parent, and business sectors. Nominees must be residents of Quebec. At least one should be from outside the island of Montreal.

Call for Presenters

Third International Conference on Women and Literacy
January 22-24, 2001, Atlanta, GA
The Centre for Literacy is collaborating with The Center for the Study of Adult Literacy at Georgia State University and Laubach Literacy Action (US) to organize this Conference on Language Culture and Litercay as they relate to women in adult basic education. Proposals are due by July 1, 2000. See our web site for details.

Benefit Concert

In partnership with The McGill Chamber Orchestra, The Centre will hold a Benefit Concert at Place des Arts, October 2, 2000. The concert features the debut of 14 year-old violin prodigy Ryo Goto, brother of acclaimed violinist Midori. Further details on cost/time of event soon to follow.
